FIFAWC2010 News-Generator: Methodology

The core logic of the similarity analysis: the sport statistics are transformed to 'learning patterns' comparable with each other. The 'learning pattern' is a table, where the rows are the objects (like teams, trainers, fields, etc.) and the columns are the attributes (e.g.: number of victories, yellow/red cards, goals, etc.). Within the frame of similarity analysis, we are looking for the reason that caused the different attributes (like difference of goals) to come into existence. If the explanatory and the studied factors exist at the same time, the result is an explanative model, but if the explanatory factors are available before the value of the studied factors, then the result is a forecast.
